Be it in Bollywood or Hollywood there are times when stars choose to walk out of the particular film due to the pay gap. The pay gap is a delicate but reality. It happens at times at stars expect a certain amount of pay but the makers of a film are not able to provide them with raise in the pay. There was a lot of news that Shah Rukh was supposed to play the main lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ but he has asked for a huge amount but the filmmaker was not able to pay that much to the actor, due to which the lead went on to Shahid Kapoor, and he looks royal in the whole costume of the Raja Ratan Singh. There are times when a filmmaker does not get his perfect choice of star cast, but still, the movies go on to be a blockbuster and the audience enjoy the film and celebrate the star cast of the film. Here are some Bollywood stars who had rejected some amazing films due to lesser pay.
02/7Shah Rukh Khan- 'Padmaavat'
You all will be surprised to know that Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’. He was supposed to play Shahid Kapoor role as Maharawal Ratan Singh. But apparently Shah Rukh has demanded not less than 90 crores, which was very high to afford for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, hence the role was then offered to Shahid Kapoor. While it is known that the film has been facing issues since the time of the shoot. Many political parties have been opposing the release of the film as the film has historical inaccuracies. They even threatened the team of the film and above all, they even sent death threats to Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But the Supreme Court has now suspended the ban from the states who were opposing the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated together on an amazing film earlier in ‘Devdas’. He portrayed the role of Dev Babu in the film and it was a very successful film.
03/7Kareena Kapoor Khan- 'Kal Ho Na Ho'
Everyone knows now that Kareena Kapoor Khan had refused to play the main lead in Karan Johar’s film Kal Ho Na Ho’, she had asked for a greater pay due to which Karan Johar had to refuse and Preity Zinta played the role of Naina in the film. No doubt Kareena and Karan are thick friends now, but back then they were not talking to each other for a year due to this issue. Karan Johar even mentioned this phase in his book and said that he was hurt when Kareena had asked same pay as Shah Rukh was offered and Karan had to refuse her and take Preity Zinta for the lead role with Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a very amusing one with Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan had the best on-screen Jodi. It became a commercially successful venture, earning ₹860.9 million, and emerging as the highest-grossing film of that year. The following year, the film won two National Film Awards, eight Filmfare Awards, and thirteen International Indian Film Academy Awards. The movie also stars Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, Lilette Dubey and Delnaaz Paul. One of the beautiful love story it was.

It was shocking to know that Sridevi Kapoor had rejected the role of Sivagami Devi in ‘Baaahubali’ but due to her high demands, the role finally went to Ramya Krishnan. The film was an Indian dramatic-action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The film was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni and was shot in Telugu and Tamil. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah in the lead roles, with Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar in supporting roles. The first of two cinematic parts, the film follows Shivudu, an adventurous young man who helps his love, a rebellious warrior intending to rescue the former queen of Mahishmati. The film's second and final cinematic part was released on 28 April 2017. It received several accolades. It won the National Film Award for Best Special Effects and Best Feature Film, becoming the first Telugu film to win the award. At the 63rd Filmfare Awards South, the Telugu version won five awards from ten nominations, including Best Film, Best Director for Rajamouli and Best Supporting Actress for Krishnan. The Beginning became the first Indian film to be nominated for Saturn Awards, receiving five nominations at the 42nd ceremony, including Best Fantasy Film and Best Supporting Actress for Tamannaah.
05/7Ranveer Singh- 'Bombay Velvet'
Ranveer Singh had rejected ‘Bombay Velvet’ with was helmed by Anurag Kashyap. He had rejected the film due to pay and date issues both. It stared Karan Johar who tried acting after a long period, he acted earlier in ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’. ‘Bombay Velvet’ was a period crime drama film. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar in lead roles with Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary, Vivaan Shah and Siddhartha Basu appearing in supporting roles. Set in 1960s Bombay, the film tells the story of Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor), a street fighter/boxer who is in love with the jazz singer Rosie. Seeing Rosie (Anushka Sharma) with wealthy men further sparks his dream of becoming a "big-shot", believing that if he manages to become rich, he might win Rosie's heart. Balraj and his friend Chimman (Satyadeep Misra) then catch the eye of Kaizad Khambatta (Karan Johar), a wealthy businessman who is impressed by Balraj and offers him to manage his club "Bombay Velvet", which Khambatta uses to further his illegal tasks and activities. The film was released in only one version and was edited in collaboration by Prerna Saigal. Bombay Velvet is influenced by Classic Hollywood cinema including film ‘Noir’ with its stereotypical caricatures like gangsters, gun molls, and femme fatales. The movie draws inspiration from gangster films of the '30s and the '40s like ‘The Roaring Twenties’ and ‘White Heat’ and neo-noir films like ‘Chinatown’ and ‘L.A. Confidential’.
06/7Nawazuddin Siddiqui- 'Jolly LLB 2'
This amazing actor was offered ‘Jolly LLB 2’ but he demanded around 3.5 crore due to which he didn’t do the film. Akshay Kumar was then approached for the film. It was a black comedy film. It is a sequel to the 2013 film ‘Jolly LLB’, and the second installment of the ‘Jolly LLB’ film series. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor in lead roles. A courtroom drama which satirizes the notion of the Indian legal system, the story follows Jagdishwar Mishra (Kumar), a lawyer who fights a case against the ruthless and powerful lawyer Pramod Mathur (Kapoor). It was reported that Arshad Warsi, who played the lead role in the previous installment, was replaced by Kumar. Actress Huma Qureshi was signed as the female lead, pairing opposite Kumar. Annu Kapoor was signed as the antagonist of the film pitted against Kumar. The major parts of the film were shot in Lucknow on a one-month schedule. The film's title and depiction of the Indian legal system created a controversy. Advocate Ajaykumar Waghmare filed a case at the Bombay High Court for removal of the word LLB and stated that the use of the word is a "deliberate attempt" to insult the Indian legal system.[25] The Bombay High Court appointed a 3-member committee to examine the content of the film. The Supreme Court of India also appointed a 3-member panel, consisting of Chief Justice J. S. Khehar and Justices N. V. Ramana and D. Y. Chandrachud, to review the film. But above all that both the films did well at the box office.
07/7Sonakshi Sinha- 'Kick'
Sonakshi Sinha began her career with the blockbuster film ‘Dabangg’ with Salman Khan and then went on to a sequel as well, ‘Dabangg 2’. The first film was Rs 100 crores. She had a chance to work with Salman Khan in ‘Kick’ but according to reports she asked for a raise in the fee, and the makes refused to pay her the pay raise, hence she could not work with Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez got the role to play the lead alongside Salman Khan. It was also said that Deepika Padukone was also considered for the female lead, but we finally saw the gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez who had sizzling chemistry with Salman Khan in the film. ‘Kick’ was an action film. The plot is designed as a flashback conversation between Jacqueline Fernandez and Randeep Hooda who could have been strangers on a train if only they were not engaged to get married. On a journey, they both discuss the man who played havoc in their lives without knowing it's the same character i.e Salman Khan. The film also featured Randeep Hooda in the lead roles and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, portraying the main antagonist of the film. Admirably, the supporting characters are well written. The colour tones in the frames are eye-catching without going the garish way. This is a film never short of surprises. The film was fun and entertaining and it did well at the box-office.
